Implants

Implants DebbieBefore and After PhotosDebbie lost her upper teeth at an early age, and was forced to wear a full denture. For the implant treatment Debbie required a bone graft. Then, Debbie had eight implants in her upper jaw. Onto the implants Debbie has an upper bridge. In her lower jaw she has a combination of bridges and crowns to match her upper teeth and complete her smile.

Implants are the best way of replacing a missing tooth or teeth. An implant is a titanium insert that is placed into your jaw. The implant then has an abutment screwed into it. Then, after the healing phase a crown or bridge is attached to the abutment. While the implants are integrating with your bone you will  either have a temporary bridge or a denture.

Ken Place has a unique partnership with surgeon Mr. Keith Jones and together they are responsible for your implant treatment.

At first, having an implant may seem daunting. However, we can put you in touch with patients who have had the treatment.

Implant Treatment

Step 1 - The first step is to have a consultation with Ken Place and Mr. Keith Jones. X-rays are taken to assess whether there is enough bone to place the implant(s). Also, this gives you an opportunity to ask any questions you have about the procdure. We can put you in touch with patients who have had the same treatment.

Step2 - Next you have the implants inserted. This is usually done under local anaesthetic and performed by Mr. Keith Jones. After the procedure a temporary bridge or denture is fitted.

Step 3 - The implants need to integrate with the jaw bone. This takes approximately 6 months in the upper jaw and approximately 3 months in the lower jaw. During this period your implants will be monitored by Mr. Keith Jones.

Step 4 - The final stage is to have the ceramic work completed. This will involve several visits to us at Place Dental Care to ensure that the fit, shape and colour are exactly right for you.

You can now enjoy your new teeth and feel confident when talking, eating and of course smiling!
